Arthritis

Let's talk arthritis!

Arthritis is defined as inflammation of one or more joints. Degenerative joint disease (DJD) is the most common form of arthritis, affecting almost 100% of the population by age 65. It is due to the mechanical breakdown of the cartilage leading to altered joint mechanics, spur formation and restricted movement in joints. DJD predominates in the spine and weight bearing joints like the hips and knees.

Treatment for arthritis revolves around management and prevention of further deformity or dysfunction. In our office we focus on restoring motion in the affected joints via gentle adjusting, heat, massage to the surrounding muscles, and exercises performed both in office and at home.

Dr. Shoultz is a trained specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis. By providing care to arthritic joints and surrounding tissue, she can help alleviate or reduce your overall pain.
